Ottawa's legendary hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. Massive veggie menu, crazy-reasonable, and totally cute. You'll catch yourself saying "this is sooooo good" and immediately groaning, at least twice a meal. Get the Wu Se Chicken (or Vegetables), Pepper-salt tofu and the minced beef congee, and you're set.

The best pub in the market, FO REAL. Chez-chez, as we call it, is an oasis amongst the Byward Market's weird tourist traps and 9th tier restaurants. Go here, play a tune on the free jukebox, feel good about your life. Get the Diego & Frida burger.

A former mens-only bar, this gigantic-yet-quaint sports bar is devoid of douchey-vibes, and offers a simple, but mouth-watering menu. Case in point, "The Cadillac", a mind-numbing meatball sandwich sent from comfort-food high council. Think sloppy joe, but on thick, Italian Wonderbread, covered in a bucket of heart-arresting meat sauce.

Very likely, the Outaouais regions most seminal restaurant. Chefs Charles Part and Jennifer Warren Part are completely and utterly dedicated to serving the best in regional, Québecois food. Shop at their gorgeous country store, pick up their classic book "A Year at Les Fougères", take in the splendour of their dedicated garden. Les Fourgères is a must-visit gem, tucked away in the gorgeous Gatineau Hills.
